Letter to a father from a coach

This is an actual letter, shared with permission. Sometimes it is difficult to be objective about the best fit for our playing ability, but be appreciative when a coach helps you to narrow the field in finding the college for you. (Refer back to steps 3 and 4 in the process!)

Read the letter.

Important Links!

Visit http://ncaa.org (Division I, II and III), http://njcaa.org (National Junior Colleges) or http://www.naia.org/  (NAIA) for more information, rules and regulations.  “I didn’t know” is not considered an acceptable excuse by these agencies.

Please note that the highlighted rules here mainly apply for NCAA Division I and II.  Rules vary for different associations, divisions and sports, so do your research!

Work Your Plan!

Make sure your Hit List includes schools where you’re a likely fit, a sure thing backup school and a couple of stretch schools. Then set out to demonstrate to those coaches that you’re the player they need.
